National Uniform Day talk from LION

As we reflect on National Uniform Day, we want to recognize how our valued NAUMD member, LION, marked the occasion. CEO Steve Schwartz shared with team members the company’s rich history, starting in the 1930s with their founder, Clarence Lapedes. From humble beginnings in Dayton, Ohio, LION grew into a leader in the uniform industry, innovating to meet the needs of public safety professionals.

Steve spoke about Clarence’s pivotal moment during a road trip when he noticed the need for gas station attendant uniforms—a spark that led to decades of success. From creating firefighter station wear to acquiring law enforcement uniform leader Elbeco in 2022, LION’s legacy is rooted in service, teamwork, and pride.

While National Uniform Day has passed, LION’s dedication to providing high-quality uniforms for those who serve remains unwavering. We are proud to have them as part of the NAUMD community.

National Uniform Day Law Enforcement Appreciation

“Today, on National Uniform Day, we take a moment to appreciate the men and women in law enforcement—those who wear the badge and the uniform with pride. To you, the police officers, we say thank you.

We recognize the dedication it takes to put on your uniform every day. It represents more than just a job—it’s a promise. A promise to protect, to serve, and to keep our communities safe. Your uniform makes it easy for us to find you when we need help, but it also serves as a symbol of trust, courage, and duty.

We know the work you do isn’t always easy. There are days when you face challenges most of us can’t imagine. You put yourself in harm’s way to ensure the safety of others, standing strong in the face of danger. Whether you’re patrolling the streets, responding to emergencies, or simply being a reassuring presence in our neighborhoods, you make a difference.

On this special day, we celebrate you. We see you. We respect the risks you take, the sacrifices you make, and the impact you have on every life you touch. Thank you for your service and for wearing your uniform with honor.”
